|
|
Hello all
As in previous years the Federation Committee(s) are having an end of season review meeting, to look at what went well, what didn't go so well, and make tentative plans for 2010.
We'd be grateful for any thoughts or opinions people have on what we've done Federation-wise this year, please either post them here or send me a PM.
Note that its at this meeting that we'll examine whether the one-year trial of having a B team in the Federation has been a success, and if so whether to continue with it for 2010.
Gary

Hello all
These are the thoughts of the two committees:
WHAT WENT WELL
- Across three years we have still brought in more money to MCBA than we have taken out, around £900 surplus at the moment
- We had lots of one off expenditures in 2009 that are unlikely to be repeated, so expenditure should fall next year
- We have a Race Night due in March and other income generating events looming, so income should increase
- We had tremendous on the green performances from both teams
- The administration of the teams and liaison with Federation and other teams was smooth
- We had a balanced team selection in both teams - never 100% right but good enough
- All the committee(s) had enjoyed themselves and will carry on for another year
- We've had great publicity in the Guardian and on this Forum
WHAT DIDN'T GO SO WELL
- Taking 2009 in isolation, we made a small loss
- We had a DRASTIC reduction in sponsorship income
- We had opposing teams changing on us last minute which annoyed us
- We feel the two committees didn't work together and this is something we'll rectify next year by having joint meetings
- We feel many of the home players in both teams didn't practice enough
- We're worried that the annual challenge match (league champions v best of the rest) is losing its appeal so want to do something different - GRATEFUL FOR SUGGESTIONS HERE
- The fixture clashes when A and B teams played on the same day didn't help, and we'll look to move the B team's May fixture and the A team's July fixture, meaning there's only August when we'll clash next year
Happy for anyone to comment on any of the above

Do a tournament which could have
2 teams from the A
2 teams from the B
A junior team
3 other random teams of anyone who wants to play.
Make it 8 a side and play it like the 1 day event at a 2 green venue. Could have for example 2 groups of 4 playing at Winnington and Castle and the final played at Owley Wood.
Something along those lines anyway
Good match practice for everyone and puts money behind the bar at 3 or more venues. _________________ ryan giggs 11-0 steven gerrard |

Perhaps a local one day tournament. Mid Cheshire, Stockport, Warrington, Chester, Runcorn, Crewe etc - and get each area to put a team together. Charge a nominal entry fee that will go towards trophies and funding for the federation.
If we did this similar to the one day event that was run in Mid Cheshire we could take the majority of the planning from that. run it at teh start of the season to drum up some interest.
Not only would this bring income for the federation but it offers a chance for some local clubs in the area to generate some extra income. |

This would only involve 12 or so players from federation teams though. Shouldnt it be based around mid cheshire league players? _________________ ryan giggs 11-0 steven gerrard |

True - but it covers the two main aims - generating money for the Federation and generating money for the clubs.
